FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Elisabeth Epps Wins Top Spot on House District 6 Ballot at Denver County Democratic Assembly.

DENVER, CO - Progressive Democrat Elisabeth Epps won the coveted top line on the June 28, 2022 primary ballot for Colorado House District 6, earning the majority of delegates’ votes at today’s Denver County Assembly. With a final tally of 63-54, HD6 was the only contested House District at the Denver Democratic Assembly.

For the past two weeks, in the period of delegate contact between precinct caucuses and assembly, Elisabeth has been in federal district court daily as the lead plaintiff in Epps et al v. City and County of Denver et al, a class action police brutality case concerning the Denver police’s excessive use of force and constitutional violations against peaceful protesters in summer 2020.

In accepting her nomination, Elisabeth told the assembled delegates:

“Denver has been good to me. If you love Denver as I do, if you believe that all our neighbors deserve to live in a thriving community with abundant opportunity then you are why I am running and you are why we will win.”

Elisabeth was formally nominated for the primary ballot by Perdeep Badhesha and Mari Newman. Both nominators spoke of Elisabeth as a fierce advocate, experienced policy expert, and courageous Denver leader, touting her proven track record of working collaboratively to pass critical bipartisan legislation at the Colorado State Capitol.

Elisabeth is the founder and executive director of the Colorado Freedom Fund, a former organizer for the ACLU of Colorado, and a longtime public safety advocate. Her record-breaking campaign raised more than $100,000 in its first three months, earning more in an opening quarter than any State House candidate in Colorado history. She raised this astounding sum with 100% individual donor contributions. Elisabeth has not accepted any donations from political action committees (PACs), special interest groups, or corporations.
