I really appreciate the way you phrased this. I also don’t LIKE the pharmacist’s refusal, and in this case as described, he traumatized the patient further both by his refusal and the uncertainty of her not even knowing the rx was transferred to be filled elsewhere. Unacceptable.

There are state laws + federal regs; Walgreens has been sued countless times (we see you @ACLU). Last I heard, (2016-ish) pharmacies must fill all lawful prescriptions, but individual pharmacists who have moral objections can refer patients to another pharmacist in same store.
